There is no disputing the fact that the past several years have brought about fundamental shifts in the talent landscape. The Great Resignation, a term coined by Anthony Klotz in May 2021, is now widely used to describe the ongoing economic trend in which record numbers of people have been leaving their jobs since early 2021; a mass, voluntary exit often attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic. While some organizations and industries have felt the effects more than others, most leaders have, at one point or another, grappled with the question of how to attract and retain talent in the ever-changing workforce.
